The Tioga County Partnership for Community Health maintains a database consisting of both primary and secondary data.           SURVEYS

Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS)

Conducted locally, evaluated externally

All students in grades 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th. Use, access and knowledge of  alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Fall, every other odd year.

Spring of following year, county and state level data.

PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency, PAYS Survey

PA Youth Tobacco Survey

PA Department of Health, with local assistance

Middle and high school students. Tobacco use, knowledge, attitudes, advertising receptivity, access and cessation attitudes and readiness.

Fall, every other odd year.

Spring of following year, by health district and state.

PA Department of Health, CDC

Adults 18+, core, rotating and evolving questions regarding a wide range of behavioral and health topics: overweight/obesity, nutrition, physical activity, insurance, gen. health, tobacco use, disabilities, screenings, diabetes, asthma, etc.

Spring, annually.

Spring of following year, by county, region and state.* Special note: In 2004, Tioga County participated in an over sampling. This regional data has been released. The 2005 survey has been conducted in each STEPS community. We are anticipating county level data.

Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance System (YRBSS)

PA Department of Health, with local assistance

Youth, grades 9-12, monitors 6 categories of priority health-risk behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries/violence, tobacco use, alcohol and other drugs, STDs and unwanted pregnancies, and overweight/inactivity.

Spring of following year, PA DoH has stated only aggregate data for the STEPS communities will be available.

Aggregate county and state data on selected health conditions as reported for reimbursement. Include oral health, diabetes, asthma, hearing, ADD, etc.

County and state level data on general health, vital stats, reportable diseases, leading causes of death.

Limited county and state data for selected HP 2010 topics and objectives.

County and state rolling counts of observed and expected cases.

County and state hospitalization data at acute, long-term, physical/rehabilitation and psychiatric facilities.

County and state data on a vast number of demographic and socioeconomic indicators.

County and state data on number, type and reason for crashes.

County and state data on population, health, economics, education, abuse, crime, arrests and court cases.

County and state data on numbers and types of reported crimes

County and state data through an interactive health statistics website.
