Course syllabi should:
- be neatly typed and clearly organized
- contain the course title and number
- list credit hours
- include course prerequisites
- include class meeting hours
- include class location
- include the instructor's name
- include office hours, phone number, and email
- include course Web site and/or courseware access Web address
- include a clear course description
- includes specific learning outcomes or objectives
- an indication of which program-wide learning goals are addressed by
the course
- lists any assigned text(s) or reading materials, including supplementary
- addresses the instructor's teaching philosophy
- includes a course schedule that includes at least some information
abut each class meeting date or weekly focus
- explain important course policies (attendance, participation, missed
exams...)
- addresses academic dishonesty and clarifies related expectations
- includes information about accomodations for students with disabilities
- discusses grading policies
- discusses available support services (tutoring, supplemental instruction)
- indicates how the instructor will communicate cancellations due to
illness and/or weather
- For courses included in the General Education Program
- the designation of the course as part of the General Education
Program should be clearly stated
- there should be learning outcomes listed related to the General

- artifacts that can be reviewed by colleagues as examples of student
learning be clearly identified
