The Mansfield University Bass Fishing Club serves to bring together students that have a common interest in bass fishing. The Bass Fishing Club also competes in local and regional tournaments. Those interested are welcome and encouraged to contact members of the team as listed below. The Bass Fishing Club currently meets on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm in Grant Science room 155 here at Mansfield University.
In mid-July of 2014, the Bass Fishing Club had another very successful tournament! The team of Tyler Grabowski and Ryan Fluharty (see picture on right) finished in fourth place at the Chesapeake Bay. They won $500.00 for the Bass Fishing Club's account! They also qualified for the regional tournament which will be held on the Potomac River in October. At least one Mansfield University team has finished in the top five in each of the last three FLW College Fishing tournaments (excluding the National Championship). So proud of these Mounties!
"It is great to see the MU Bass Fishing team doing so well. For such a small school, these kids are performing exceptionally well. I'm really glad to know most of these guys. I cannot say enough good things about their team and the members. Whenever I've needed help with a project, they have always been there for me too. Great people!" Don Kelly - Owner, Tackle Shack (Wellsboro, PA)
In late-July of 2014, the Bass Fishing Club continued to impress! The team of Colton Otto and Bryan Rupp finished in 3rd place at the third annual Tackle Shack Open during a 3-day weekend tournament that included fishing on Cowanesque Lake, Tioga Lake, and Hammond Lake. They are pictured on the right in plain clothes, after having proudly worn their MU jerseys throughout the tournament. They are holding their two biggest fish from Cowanesque Lake. They beat out a lot of good fishermen that grew up on those lakes and know the lakes inside and out. Colton and Bryan came up to Tioga County from their hometowns during summer break just to fish the tournament in representing MU!
