As we advise our students for Fall 2013 over the next several weeks, it is likely students will need an extra class and/or will express interest in taking Summer 2013 classes. There are a number of Communication classes being offered by Dr Alysa Lucas this Summer Session I and II that may be of interest to you and your students.
COM 2221: Interpersonal Conflict is an online class offered during Summer Session I (May 28th to June 27th, 2013). Interpersonal Conflict will explore the nature and complexities of conflict management and resolution from a communication perspective with a specific focus on how communication is used to create, reflect, and manage conflict.
COM 3345: The Dark Side of Interpersonal Communication is an online class offered during Summer Session I (May 28th to June 27th, 2013). The Dark Side of Interpersonal Communication will explore the different problems, events, and behaviors that occur in personal relationships such as aggression, bullying, criticism, deception, infidelity, and secret keeping.
COM 1101: Oral Communication is an on-campus class offered MTWTh from 10:00-11:40am during Summer Session II (July 1st to August 8th, 2013). COM 1101 fulfills the Oral Communication requirement and, due to the (likely) smaller class size, summer may be an ideal time for new students and/or communication apprehensive students to take the course. Oral Communication will prepare students for formal public speeches, effective group communication, effective interpersonal communication, and effective interview preparation and presentation.
