National Depression Screening Day - October 10
Posted by Michelle Holbein for October 8, 2013
More than 15 million American adults suffer from some form of depression. National Depression Screening Day on October 10 is an opportunity to learn more about depression and other mood disorders that affect individuals of all ages. Psychologists and other mental health professionals all over Pennsylvania are joining together to offer free and confidential depression screenings. To find a screening day location near you visit www.mentalhealthscreening.org. If someone you know may be suffering from depression, encourage them to participate in a free screening event.
If you want to be screened for depression but can’t find a counselor who is participating in the event in a convenient location, you may call SEAP and ask to have an appointment scheduled with a SEAP counselor.
Employees must use their lunch period or use annual or personal leave to take part in this event or to see a SEAP counselor if it is within their scheduled working hours.
Please also remember that SEAP is free and available to you and your family 24/7 to help you deal with emotional or family concerns, alcohol or drug abuse, depression and other behavioral health matters. SEAP also provides free telephonic financial and legal consultation, as well as discounted legal services. Call 800.692.7459 (TDD 800.824.4306).
