Update: In the fall of 2014, Mansfield University launched the Professional Development Fund Pilot Program with the goal of providing financial support to eligible employees for a variety of professional development opportunities.
The pilot program was well received in its inaugural year; however, it has been decided that due to the current financial state of the university, funding will be suspended temporarily for the remainder of this fiscal year. At this time, the university anticipates that it will be able to restore funding to the program with the beginning of the 16/17 academic year.
Current applications will be kept on file if applicants wish to reapply in the future. Applicants who have already received funding in prior semesters should continue to adhere to the expectations of completion in order to be eligible for any future funding when reinstated.
The Professional Development Fund exists to support faculty and staff professional development in alignment with Objective 3.1 of the MU 2020 Strategic Plan: to promote strategic engagement through attracting and retaining a talented and diverse workforce.
The Professional Development Committee has been established to review each application to ensure that it meets the requirements set forth in the Principles and Guidelines. The committee will rate and rank each application to determine the allocation of available funds which will then be approved by Cabinet and the President.
The Professional Development Committee comprises 5
members with 1 designee from each University division. Committee members will each serve a two
year term with 2 members rotating on an annual basis. The committee will meet once per semester to
allocate funds for professional development opportunities with an optional meeting to be held for summer opportunities,
if funds are available.
All applications and accompanying documentation should be submitted to Human Resources by the designated application deadline.
