Orchestra Auditions for Strings

Posted by Jeffrey Jacobsen for 8-25-14

Anyone interested in playing strings with the Mansfield University Symphony Orchestra, Jeff Jacobsen - Conductor, should sign up for an audition on Sunday between 2:00 and 4:00 PM in room 205 of the Butler Music Center.

We are looking for violin, viola, cello, and bass players with previous experience playing in an orchestra.

The ensemble is a large symphony orchestra which performs well known as well as obscure but beautiful orchestral music.  GenEd credit is available for the ensemble which meets on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:20 and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 in the Steadman Theater of the Butler Music Center.  The ensemble, ranging from 55 to 75 members, performs at least four concerts on campus per year and several performances off campus.  The MU Symphony Orchestra also records at various times during the year and has created two CDs in the past four years as well as presenting the world premieres of two pieces.

Contact Dr. Jacobsen ( for further information.
