About Me

Dr. Crowl graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology (Criminal Justice concentration) from Walsh University in 2005. He continued his studies at Youngstown State University, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He obtained his Ph.D. in Criminology from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
 
In Fall 2013, Dr. Crowl joined Mansfield University as an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Administration Department. His research and teaching interests include police legitimacy and procedural justice, evidence-based crime and delinquency prevention, criminological theory and organized crime.

Dr. Crowl is involved in a number of professional development and service activities. He is in the process of conducting multiple lines of research specific to police legitimacy, procedural justice, and perceptions of the police. Currently, he serves as the MU campus lead for the ACJS Department and the acdemic adviser to the MU Criminal Justice Club. Dr. Crowl maintains membership in Alpha Phi Sigma (national Criminal Justice honor society), Phi Kappa Phi (the nation's most selective all-discipline honor society), the American Society of Criminology, and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. He is also a manuscript reviewer for Criminal Justice Policy Review.

In addition to his teaching and professional activities, Dr. Crowl Crowl enjoys sports (big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Golden State Warriors!), networking with students, and spending time with his wife Crystal and sons Cameron and Carter.
