Mansfield University offers scholarships awarded to students who meet certain criteria. Below is a list of the scholarships offered through the university.
All Outdoors w/ Al Probst Fisheries
- A scholarship given to a freshman Fisheries major in honor of Alan Probst, an avid outdoorsman and television host. The Biology Department will select the recipient.
Alumni Association Scholarship
Awarded to a full time student who is either a sophomore for use in the recipient's junior year and/or a junior for use in the recipient's senior year; preference is given to Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA's) recipient must have at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated leadership through involvement in campus clubs or associations, community activities or employment.
Art Scholars Award
- General scholarship guidelines. Recipient to be recommended by Art Faculty.
Athletic Scholarship
- Scholarships to assist student athletes.
Award for Asian Studies
- This award is to benefit a student who wishes to study Asian Studies at any credit bearing university or college overseas. Minimum GPA to apply is 3.0 and applicant must be in good academic and conduct standing.
Barton Memorial Scholarship
An award for an incoming English major with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Break the Chain Scholarship
- Fund to provide assistance to minority student athletes at Mansfield University. Recipient must be a graduate of a PA high school, be a member of the men's/women's basketball team, demonstrate financial need, be in good academic and conduct standing and be recommended by the Athletic Director. The scholarship is renewable.
Ethel G. Bunnell Endowment
Scholarship for Mathematics majors; general scholarship guidelines apply.
CJA Scholar Recognition Award
An award for a CJA major who has achieved academic success.
COMM Department Book Award
A book award to be used in the Campus Bookstore for a COMM major who has achieved academic success and has demonstrated need.
Darrin/Dye Endowed Scholarship
- Scholarship for Music majors
Hartley B. Dean Endowment
A scholarship for students with significant need as demonstrated by the FAFSA; general scholarship guidelines apply.
Evans Family Scholarship
An award for a graduate Education major with at least a 3.0 GPA; must be a non-tradtional student who is at least half-time.
First Citizens Community Bank Academic Scholarship
- To provide financial assistance to students at Mansfield University. Applicant must be enrolled in any degree programs at MU, demonstrate financial need, be in good conduct and academic standing and be endorsed by members of the University scholarship committee
First Citizens Community Bank Athletic Scholarship
- To provide financial assistance to student athletes at Mansfield University. Applicant must be a member of the MU men's/women's NCAA intercollegiate sports teams, demonstrate financial need, be in good conduct and academic standing and be endorsed by members of the University scholarship committee
Friends of George Dolph Book Award
An award for an English major who demonstrates devotion to social justice as well as academic excellence in language and literature studies.
Gary Moore Memorial Education Scholarship
- Scholarship for Education majors
Fran & Connie Hendricks Endowed Scholarship
- For sophomore, junior or senior full time MU student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated community service endorsed by the Dean of Students. Scholarship is renewable.
Holtzapple '87 Scholarship
A scholarship for a sophomore CJA major who has at least a 2.7 GPA and financial need; $500 is awarded in fall to male athlete (preference given to a sprint football player)& $500 in spring to a female athlete.
Human Resources Department Scholarship
- Recipient may be a current student majoring in Psychology with a concentration in HR with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or a freshman who has placed in the top two-fifths of their high-school graduating class with an SAT score of 1000 or more. Recipients must demonstrate a need for financial aid, be in good academic and conduct standing. Applicants need to complete an applications and submit it along with two letters of recommendation and a current resume.
Hunsicker Endowment
A scholarship for a male Education major in good academic standing.
JBJR Scholarship
A scholarship for a returning Political Science major who has demonstrated financial need and who is in good academic standing; renewable.
Philip S. Kift '70 Scholarship
A $500 scholarship for an incoming freshman who graduated from a public high school in PA.
Bernie Koloski Book Award
A book award for a returning English major who best represents the standards of intellectual rigor in the study of literature.
Lippert
- A number of awards through the generosity of the Lippert Foundation. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have completed at least 24 credits.
Litchfield Family Piano Scholarship
A scholarship for a Piano major who has achieved academic success.
Helen D. Lutes Field Hockey Scholarship
- The student must be a member of a women's intercollegiate hockey team at Mansfield University. The student must also demonstrate the highest traits of leadership, citizenship, behavior and character both on and off the playing field. Scholarships will be awarded regardless of race, age, ethnic origin, or religious preference. These athletic scholarships are made on a one year basis per NCAA regulations. The scholarship may be renewed based on:
- a) The student-athlete maintains satisfactory progress as defined by the NCAA and the University including requirements in both credits passed and grade point average.
- b.) The student-athlete maintains proper attendance at required University programs (study table, seminars, etc.)
- c.) The student-athlete has not been disciplined or suspended for misbehavior on or off campus.
- d.) Disciplinary action or a decision of an award recipient to no longer participate in intercollegiate athletics may result in a reduction or cancellation of the award.

Mansfield Military Scholarship
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen. Eligibility is based on prior or current military membership in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Air Force. Official combat or retired veteran status is not required. Student must be separated from active duty under honorable conditions or be currently serving under honorable conditions. Scholarship eligibility of veteran dependents: Veteran of dependent must have been separated from active duty under honorable conditions or be currently serving under honorable conditions. Administrative separations or any other type of separation, other than honorable, will not be considered. A current copy of students’ DD214 or dependents’ certificate of eligibility must be submitted a school certifying officer prior to consideration. Student scholarship recipient recommendations may be sent to the university-wide scholarship committee by the MU Veterans Advisory Board for consideration of award. Applicants will be awarded scholarships based on need, academic performance, and extracurricular background as determined by the university-wide scholarship committee.

MU4M Scholarship
- A hardship grant for students with high or very high financial need.
Music Education Book Award
A book award for the Mountie Den for a Music major who has achieved academic success.
Music Scholar Recognition Award
A scholarship for a Music major who has achieved academic and musical success.
Paskvan History Scholarship
An award for a History major who has achieved academic success.
Pennsylvanis State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) Scholarships
Scholarships available for returning students who are members of PSECU. Students need at least a 3.0 GPA.
Philosophy Scholars Award
A scholarship for a Philosophy major who has achieved academic success.
Presser Scholarship
An award given to an outstanding junior Music major who has achieved academic success.
Pride Leadership Award
A $500 scholarship awarded in fall only for a Music major who is either a section leader or a drill instructer in the marching band; non-renewable.
Psychology Scholars Award
A scholarship for a Psychology major who has achieved academic success; chosen by the Psychology Department.
Sanner Memorial Scholarship
A scholarship for a returning English major who has demonstrated academic merit; must have earned at least 30 credits.
Scholar Recognition Award
An award for students who have achieved academic success; general scholarship guidelines apply.
Justina Sechrist '14 Voice Scholarship
A scholarhsip for a returning vocal performance major w/ an emphasis in opera who has at least a cumilative 2.0 GPA but a 3.0 in applied music; preference is given to a soprano; renewable.
Nicholas Siconolfi Memorial Scholarship
- A scholarship for a first or second generation US resident; general scholarship guidelines apply.
Social Work Scholarship
- Awarded to students with a Social Work Major. Recipients to be selected by Department faculty.
Sociology Gold Award
An award for a Sociology major who has achieved the highest GPA in the major.
Donald A. Stanley Tuba/Euphonium Scholarship
An award for a Music Education major who has achieved academic success and plays the Tuba and/or Euphonium.
Jean Strynski-Kreuscher Endowed Music Scholarship
This scholarship is presented to Music majors. Recipients are selected on talent without regard for financial need. Recipients must have attained SAT scores of 900 or more. The number of scholarships is determined annually. Several non-renewable awards are given for the academic year. A committee of Music faculty reviews applicants and forwards recommendations to the University Scholarship Committee.
Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Book Award
A book award for an SGA member who has achieved academic success; a credit at the Mountie Den.
SGA Scholarship
An award for a member of SGA major who has achieved academic success.
Transfer Scholarship
A award for a transfer student major who has achieved academic success prior to entering MU.
University Senate Award
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need. General scholarship guidelines. The University Senate Award is a $500 award given out each semester.
Voice Scholarship
- Scholarship awarded to students who are Voice majors. Recipients selected by Voice Faculty
