This year we lost a special member of the Mansfield University family, Tamara Soderberg. Tam’s work in the Admission Department at Mansfield University enhanced the experiences of our international students while increasing international diversity on our campus. She made a lasting impression on every student and staff member she met. Many international students say they would not be where they are today if not for Tam’s influence on their lives. Recently Tam’s mother and cousin sponsored a flagpole in her memory on the University’s International Walkway. A significant portion of the flagpole sponsorship is used for scholarship. In addition, many members of the university community, including students, faculty and staffs, have asked how they might contribute to a memorial for Tam. These efforts have prompted the desire to establish a lasting legacy in Tam’s memory through an endowed scholarship fund.

Mansfield University is a community in the best sense of the word. We look out for each other. We push ourselves to dream big. We work hard to achieve success. We care. Mansfield welcomed its first student in 1857 – and to this day, the University continues to seek and serve students with big dreams for their futures.
