Political Science Club (PSC)
The goal of the Political Science Club is to promote greater awareness on campus about political issues. To achieve this, the PSC plans a variety of events. For example, the PSC regularly hosts an Election Night Live (ENL) party for mid-term and presidential elections. In the past, the PSC has organized voter information sessions, trips to Washington, D.C., movie nights, and guess speakers.
The club is non-partisan. Dr. Jonathan Rothermel is the faculty adviser.

MU Alumna (Class of 12') Shares Her Peace Corps Experience
On November 4, 2015, the Political Science Club invited Sarah Tinney who graduated from Mansfield University with a nursing degree in 2012 to speak about her Peace Corps experience. Sarah spent 27 months in Mongolia as a community healthcare specialist. Over 60 students came to hear Sarah's presentation. She explained to the students how Peace Corps volunteers live simply and among the community that they are helping. Her Mongolian hosts were very warm and friendly, despite living in one of the least densely populated areas of the entire world.
Sarah is part of an elite group. There are only approximately 7,000 Peace Corps volunteers serving throughout the world today. The Peace Corps was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. For Sarah, it was a rewarding and life changing experience, and she encouraged Mansfield students to consider it.
PSC Hosts Meet and Greet - Independent Candidate Nick Troiano for Congress
On April 16, 2014, the Political Science Club (PSC) hosted a Meet and Greet event for Nick Troiano. Mr. Troiano is an independent candidate for Congress in the 10th congressional district, which includes Mansfield University. He is challenging the current Republican incumbent, Representative Tom Marino.
Mr. Troiano spent the day talking to students in Dr. Rothermel's political science classes about the importance of young people's involvement in politics. Mr. Troiano is 24-years old.
About 40 students attended the Meet and Greet event. At the event, Mr. Troiano explained why he was running for Congress. He is particularly concerned about our nation's growing deficit, the problem of climate change, and economic inequality in the US.
