Student Learning Outcome:
Students will be able to identify skills to be successful at note taking in college.
Step 1:
Review the Note Taking PowerPoint presentation (ppt) - I recommend that you DO NOT view the PowerPoint presentation as a slide show, so that you can read the notes below each slide (when applicable). In order to do so, right click on the link and click on "Save Target As"; then click on "Open". Also make sure to record your answers to the questions that are asked on Slide #3 of the PowerPoint presentation.
Additionally, be able to answer the following questions:
- What are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to taking notes and listening?
- Why is it so important to review your notes daily and weekly?
- What are 3 methods of note-taking, and which do you prefer?
- What are some tips for good note taking?
Step 2:
Choose one of the note taking methods described in the Note Taking PowerPoint (Cornell, Informal Outline, or Mind Map) and use it to take notes on the following video ...

Email your completed notes as an attachment to your TRiO advisor. Your notes will be reviewed and you will be sent feedback as needed.
