Fall Registration

Fall 2008 course listings will be available at  http://records.mansfield.edu/ after March 9th.  After that date, students can review courses to plan fall classes.  Scroll to the bottom left on the webpage for an active link to fall classes.

Intent to Graduate Form

Plan to complete your intent to graduate form one year before graduation.  You will not be penalized in any way if you take longer than one year to actually graduate!  So if you plan to graduate Spring 09, your intent to graduate should be submitted by the end of this semester, [which is rapidly approaching].  Your intent to graduate form triggers correspondence from the Registrar’s office giving students guidance regarding courses still needed to complete all graduation requirements.  This is an important time to have a complete and accurate list of remaining graduation requirements; it allows students two semesters to complete their work.  Ultimately, students must advocate for themselves and not overly depend on their academic advisor.

The Intent to Graduate form can be found on the Registrar's website, click on the link, Forms.

Internships

Internship opportunities arise all of the time in the Business Department; please keep an eye on the bulletin board in front of the office door, room 106.  Internships are a great way to gain experience, take a look at what you might like to do, size-up potential employers, AND get college credit.  Many business internships are paid.  Also, meet with your academic advisor, many faculty have developed community connections that may work for you.  Your advisor is the best source for how to go about obtaining an internship for academic credit.

Students must have at least 60 credits earned by the semester of an internship.

NEW business program starting Fall 2008

There is also a NEW business program starting Fall 2008.  Only a Business Administration degree will be open for enrollment beginning in Fall 2008.  Students currently enrolled in a business emphasis will not be affected in any way by this change!

The new business program is being sent to you for your consideration.  Students can elect to move to the new program by advisement.  Big changes are,

  1. an additional course in communications, COM 3336 or COM 3360 and
  2. CIS 3309, Management Information Systems will be required of all business majors.

The faculty have invested time and thought into the changes you see to better focus on student learning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me, mdugan@mansfield.edu, or come by my office.  It is an honor to work with you.
