Assistant Professor Mike Crum received B.S. degrees in theatre, Art, and Education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. He earned his graduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. Crum went on to receive a Master in Fine Arts in Scene Design, Lighting Design, and Technical Production, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Professor Crum teaches courses in technical theatre, design, management, musical theatre and production.
He is responsible for directing two of the four major productions in Mansfield’s regular theatre season, as well as outside projects in conjunction with the department, such as theatre shows in Manser Dining Hall and at the Arcadia Theatre in Wellsboro. Crum is the co-founder of the Mansfield University Community Players, having directed and designed several summer musicals for the organization. Occasionally, he can be seen onstage, having performed Noah in "Two by Two" and Jesus in "Godspell".
Crum has worked as a Technical Director for Corning Summer Theatre in Corning, NY. Before coming to Mansfield University, he worked for the Sheffield Theater Co. at the 1984 Worlds Expo in New Orleans and Theater La Petite in the French Quarter, New Orleans.
Professor Crum has recently directed such musicals as "Godspell", "Guys and Dolls", and "Phantom of the Opera" at Mansfield University as well as many non-musical productions.
