Mr. James Lohrey
 

Mr. Lohrey received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Media Study and Theatre.  He previously taught media production, film studies, media writing and broadcast journalism courses at SUNY Brockport and St. John Fisher College in Rochester NY.  In addition to teaching, Mr. Lohrey was previously the Director of Media Services at St. John Fisher College.  Additional responsibilities included the start the campus’ TV Club (which earned various campus awards) and participating in the college’s first-year freshmen program. 

Before starting in his academic teaching career, Mr. Lohrey worked as a production assistant at WKBW-TV (the ABC affiliate in Buffalo NY), wrote a bi-weekly film column in a small entertainment newspaper in Buffalo and assisted on various film shoots. While in college, he participated as well in the college’s radio station as a DJ. 

Mr. Lohrey’s professional affiliations include the Broadcast Educators Association, the International Communication Association and the University Film/Video Association.  In the past, he has presented various papers in his field and participated on conference panels.  His current area of research includes gender/sexuality issues in media and broadcasting. 

In his spare time, Mr. Lohrey enjoys making short documentary/narrative films, writing screenplays and attending theatrical productions. 

At Mansfield University, Mr. Lohrey teaches Television Production courses in addition to a course in Media Management, TV Reporting, and Oral Communication.  He is also the advisor to the MUTV.
