Mr. Gary McIntyre
 

Mr. McIntyre received both his Master’s degree in mass communication and his Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences from Kansas State University. He previously taught mass communication, broadcasting and speech at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina, and at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Mr. McIntyre was internship coordinator for the communication departments at both institutions and advised the campus radio station at Buena Vista. He also taught as an adjunct instructor in broadcasting at Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, New York.

Along with his academic career, Mr. McIntyre has been a professional radio broadcaster for the past 30 years at several locations throughout the United States including Evansville, Indiana, Jamestown, New York, and Topeka, Kansas. His positions have included operations director, program director, on-air announcer, and sales representative. Prior to his arrival at Mansfield University, Mr. McIntyre was operations director, internship coordinator and employment supervisor for the Platinum Broadcasting group of radio stations in Junction City-Manhattan, Kansas.

He is currently active in the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters and the Broadcast Education Association, serving as the national newsletter editor for that organization’s history division.

Mr. McIntyre served for three years with the U.S. Army in the early 1970s. Following training in photo journalism at Fort Harrison, Indianapolis, Mr. McIntyre was sent overseas to the Republic of Vietnam for a one-year tour of duty. He held the positions of film librarian, television anchor, disc jockey, and radio news producer-anchor with the American Forces Vietnam Network. Following Vietnam, Mr. McIntyre became the copy editor at the Fort Riley Post newspaper at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Mr. McIntyre is married to his wife, Sharon, and has a son, Justin, who is a public history graduate student at the University of South Carolina. Justin and his wife, Tamara, reside in Columbia, SC.
