Dr. Young received her Ph.D. from Penn State University in Speech Communication.

She teaches classes in Oral Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Organizational Communication, Small Group Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Gender Communication, Parliamentary Procedure, Communication Theory, and Persuasion.

Dr. Young has published three textbooks:
