January Comm Day is scheduled for Friday, April 13th.
March Senior Tony Fannick is named 2012 Department of Communication Outstanding Senior.
April Graduating senior Chris Boswell is awarded the Bill Esposito Memorial Award by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association.
April Basketball standout Colton Lewis signs with Mansfield and has great things to say about the Department of Communication.
 
2011
January Comm Day is scheduled for Friday, April 15th.
March Dr. K. Sue Young is elected new department chair.
March Mike Peters, former WNTE General Manager, President of MUTV and Flashlight editor, was a winner of the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association Editorial Contest for 2010. Mike is a 2004 graduate of Mansfield University. He is the sports editor for the Annapolis Capitol newspaper.
April Public Relations Minor is approved.
April Communication and Theatre is awarded a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Grant to fund an Electronic Media Visiting Professional Workshop.
April Journalism Minor is approved.
November Alum Rob Weigand donated equipment from ABC in New York to Mansfield University's Department of Communication. Read more about this donation.
 
2010
November The Department of Communication hosts Spend-A-Day.
September On Thursday, September 16th at 11:30 am, the Department of Communication will hold an Open House for interested students. Learn about the program and tour the new facilities.
August The Communication faculty move to their new facilities in Allen Hall.
June Professor James Lohrey is granted tenure and promoted to Assistant Professor.
May Dr. Alysa Lucas is hired as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication.
 
2009
June Mr. Gary McIntyre and Dr. Chuck Hoy were granted tenure. Mr. McIntyre was also promoted to Assistant Professor.

Josh Kramer, MUTV president, and Kaela Mast, WNTE-FM general manager, attended the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) May 2009 convention in Hershey thanks to funding through a PAB higher education grant awarded to the Communications and Theatre Department.

Kay Barrett is selected as the Communication Department's Outstanding Senior.

Bia Bernum is nominated for the Provost's Award for Outstanding Teaching in the First Year and the Provost's Award for Outstanding Academic Advising.
 
Dr. Chuck Hoy's paper "You Want Me to Put What Where: Or How Not to Move a Radio Station" is awarded 2nd place in the Paper Competition at the Broadcast Education Association Conference.

Department is awarded a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Grant. Gary McIntyre is the lead grant writer. This is the third time the department received the grant.

Dan Mason receives tenure.
September
Communication major Carrie Goodyear is awarded the THIS Internship. She is working in the Office of the Speaker of the House (PA).
 
Winging It with the Professors - the faculty and students hang out and enjoy wings at Mark's Brothers.
October
Communication major is changed to Organizational Communication major to better reflect the goals of the program.
