The following Program Change Proposal has been proposed by the African American Studies Program and the Department of Social Work/Anthropology/Sociology:
Old Degree and/or Program Title (attach Old ER) Ethnic Studies: African American Concentration New Degree and/or Program Title (attach New ER) African American Studies Minor
Rationale for change: We wish to revise the minor to delete courses no longer offered or no longer offered as an African-American Studies topic, add new courses that have been approved by the steering committee as an appropriate courses for the minor, and to restructure the minor to ensure that students take courses in both the humanities and social sciences.
List all changes: Delete ARH 229, HON 100, 101, 201, ID 201 (ARH 229 has been renumbered and the Art Department no longer offers it) (HON 100, 101, and 201 were originally added when it appeared that these courses might be revised to include a greater variety of topics, including topics pertinent to the minor. This never occurred and these courses are not appropriate for this minor.)
