This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Helen Biblehimer, Elliott Hall 203, ext. 4521, hbiblehi@mnsfld.edu.

The department of Philosophy and Liberal Studies has requested the following curricular actions:

NOTE: Although there are two separate actions liste below, they are to the same program. The department did not realize that both actions could be placed on the same form.

#1 Action: Program Change: B.A. Philosophy

Rationale for change: To comply with statewide mandate to reduce maximum credit hours to 120.

List all changes:
Reduce 128 SH requirement to 120 SH requirement:
the 8 SH reduction to come from Free Electives

Program Description for Catalog: Change to "Program requirements: Philosophy Major (B.A.) 120 s.h."

#2 Action: Program Change: BA Philosophy

Rationale: To introduce more flexibility in offering core requirements for Philosophy B.A.

List all changes: Change PHL 4403 20th Century Philosophy as a required course with the following:

20th Century Philosophy Requirement: 3 SH from one of the following courses:

• PHL 3350 Concept of Mind 3 s.h.
• PHL 3360 Concept of Knowledge 3 sh
• PHL 3399 Existentialism 3 sh
• PHL 4403 20th Century Philosophy 3 sh.
