The General Education Subcommittee has submitted the following final changes to their General Education Assessment Plan:

IN ORDER TO INCLUDE TRANSFER STUDENTS IN THE GE ASSESSMENT THE
FOLLOWING CHANGES [INCLUDED IN BRACKETS ] HAVE BEEN MADE:

One semester prior to graduation, students who began their coursework at Mansfield University (students without transfer credits) will be required to submit a portfolio of works. Each portfolio must contain five artifacts . The artifacts must come from at least four of the five GE blocks. One artifact may come from a general education course in the core. Taken as a whole, the five artifacts must demonstrate each of the general education outcomes--critical thinking, problem solving,
analysis, communication, and an introduction to the principles, substance, and methodology of humanities, language and literature, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. [Transfer students will submit artifacts on a prorated basis as follows: if transferring in less than one fourth of GE credits, submit 4 artifacts; if transferring in between one fourth and one half GE credits, submit 3 artifacts; if between one half and three fourths, submit 2 artifacts; and more than three fourths, submit 1 artifact. At least one of these artifacts must must demonstrate critical thinking skills.

NUMBER 7 HAS BEEN ADDED:
The General Education Subcommittee will
1.Develop, pilot, and revise the General Education Assessment;
2.Identify courses that meet General Education status;
3.Examine the assessment data summary sheets and the Summer Team report;
4.Make a formal report with recommendations to AAC;
5.Forward program change request form to the Academic Affairs Committee; and
6.Forward assessment process change request to the Academic Affairs Committee.
[ 7.Identify a summer team of faculty to assess students from the list submitted to the Associate Provost. Each evaluation team should be composed of teaching faculty drawn from the five subject-area blocks, at least one member from each of the five blocks.]

NUMBER 3 HAS BEEN DELETED AND IS INSTEAD INCLUDED IN GES WILL #7 ABOVE:
The University Assessment Committee will:
1.Train the summer team;
2. Select two days in May for the summer team to assess the portfolios.
[3. Identify a summer team of faculty to assess students from the list submitted to the Associate Provost.]
