| The
department of Psychology has requested the following curricular changes: # 1 Action: Rationale for change: (a) Improve psychology major‚s proficiency in research design and methodology, and (b) allow students more flexibility in selection of mathematics courses in general education program. List all changes: (a) Remove requirement that Psychology BS students take MA 1125, Introductory Statistics I (b) Add requirement that students take PSY 1191, Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology. # 2 Action: Rationale for change: Set an educational standard for students enrolled in the Psychology and Human Resource Management B.S. programs based on a minimum grade in three core courses. It is anticipated that this will increase the probability of retention and success in the major for students who meet the standard. Faculty experience suggests that students who fail to meet this standard are likely to falter in advanced courses. List all changes: Require all students in the Psychology and Human Resource Management programs to attain a grade of C or better in PSY 1101, Introduction to Psychology, PSY 1151, Introduction to Applications of Psychology, and PSY 1191, Introduction to Research Methods in order to remain in the major. No student will be permitted to continue in the major beyond the time they complete 60 credit hours unless they meet this standard.
