Curricular Action Notice—Secondary Education Programs (10 programs)
Rationale for change: The revisions to this program are a result of a mandate (Chapter 49) from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and directives from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). The revised program is part of a comprehensive redesign of teacher education certification programs in Pennsylvania. The new program guidelines and requirements would take effect for students earning PDE certification beginning in January, 2013, but will need to be implemented beginning with the incoming student class of Fall, 2009.
Old Degree and Program Title (attach an old ER): N/A New Degree and Program Title (attach a new ER): (Advising Sheet attached.) List all changes:
The changes to ED 1102 and ED 4460 eliminate 3 credits, and 6 are being added, bringing the total credits to 129, which is permissible for Chemistry. Impact on other programs (if any): These changes impact the Education and Special Education Department by necessitating a re-design of special education courses/programs, a revision of education courses, and a reduction of education credits.
