COURSE DELETION: HON 3301: Field Work in the
Natural and Social Sciences
Prefix: ___HON____________
Number: __3301__________
Rationale for deletion:
This course has been difficult to offer
regularly and the limited nature of its offering
has meant that students have had problems
completing the Honors Program.
Additionally, as a cross-listed course it
frequently has limited applicability to a
student’s degree program and/or interests.
The courses with which it has been cross-listed
frequently assume a certain amount of prior
training, leaving Honors students from other
disciplines at a disadvantage. There have
been no natural science offerings of this course
for many years, undermining the original intent
of the course. This course is being
replaced with a Senior Seminar which will be
offered every semester to coincide with the
Senior Honors Project.

2.
COURSE DELETION: MUS 4421: Choral Literature
Prefix: __MU_____________
Number: ______4421________
Rationale for deletion:
Compliance with NASM standards. MU 4421 is cross
listed at the graduate level with MU 5521.
Currently the number of graduate courses that
are cross listed with undergraduate courses is
too high with respect to NASM standards.
The department seeks to delete the undergraduate
cross listing of this course (MU 4421) to
improve our compliance with this standard.

COURSE CHANGE: LDR 3325 (to LDR 2325):
Introduction to Leadership Studies
Purpose and nature of
change: Change course number and remove
prerequisite credit requirement.
Rationale:
To make this introductory leadership studies
course accessible to all students, allowing
students an earlier opportunity to explore
leadership studies and to allow more students to
realistically complete the Minor in Leadership
Studies within their 4-year program.
Old Prefix: LDR
Old Number: 3325
New Prefix: LDR
New Number: 2325
Course Title:
Introduction to Leadership Studies
Prerequisites:
OLD: Prerequisite: 45 credit hours
NEW: None
4.
PROGRAM CHANGE: LEADERSHIP STUDIES (MINOR)
Rationale for change:
Recognize change in course number and
prerequisite for the required core course:
Introduction to Leadership Studies (new
number: LDR 2325) and other changes to elective
options, adding two new courses and removing
listing of course numbers that are variable name
courses and which only count when offered as a
specific topic. The intent is to 1) make
the core introductory course more accessible to
students earlier in their academic careers and
2) to clarify elective options in the minor.
List all changes:
a.
Course number change for the entry core course
to the minor (LDR 3325 to LDR 2325),
b.
Add electives recently approved by the Minor
Steering Committee (SPA 3306 & SPA 3307),
c.
Delete standing electives that are in variable
tile courses that cause confusion in record
keeping and for students (Eng 2220/3320 and HST
3295). These special topics courses in
English and History can still be counted as
appropriate upon the recommendation of the Minor
Steering Committee.
