    Doerksen: clarified “Mind/Body Health”
  7. Changes to existing courses:
    a. Renaming PSY 1151 From “Psychology First-Year Seminar” to “Orientation to Psychology”
    b. Renaming PSY 2206 from “Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology” to “Research Methods I”
    c. Renaming PSY 3306 from “Experimental Design” to “Research Methods II” and changing to include material from PSY 3304, “Survey Research Methods” (this course is being deleted).

  9. Introduction of two new 1 credit courses:
    a. PSY 3351, “Career Planning” (required for all majors)
    b. PSY 3352, “Field Experience and Observation” (elective for majors only)
  10. Program changes for the Psychology, Human Resource Management concentration:
    a. Changes to the “psychology requirements,” including: wording changes to the concentration’s catalogue description; a new 1 credit course: PSY 3351, “Career Planning,”; recognition of renamed courses (PSY 1151, now “Orientation to Psychology”; PSY 2206, now “Research Methods I”; PSY 3306, now “Research Methods II”); removing the option of PSY 3304, “Survey Research Methods” (this course is being deleted); and within the psychology elective course block, “Must take 6 s.h. from,” removal of PSY 4462, “Behavior Modification,” and addition of PSY 4441, “Psychology and the Law”.
    b. Changes to the non-psychology elective course block (“Must take 12 s.h. from”): Addition of BUS 3325, “Business Leadership”

Discussion: S. Brown: Human Resource Management already exists, they are adding 4 more concentrations. You either choose Psychology OR Human Resource Management; this will create the possibility of more choice for students while giving more recognition in specific areas of specialization; staffing should not be affected. This may affect recruitment in a positive way.
Thorne: this kind of specialization has had a positive impact in Geology.
Murphy: was it discussed what a “concentration” is; what is required?
Doerksen: AAC will next be defining what a practicum is. She has detailed documentation of what is required for a concentration. All 5 concentrations require same core courses, each concentration has a series of required courses applicable to the concentration.
Keeth: concerned about the wave effect these kinds of changes have on the distribution of students in classes around campus.
Doerksen: These changes should have very little effect on that.

    All of above: PASSED.
