Administrative Affairs & Elections (K. Thorne)

  • Committee will meet next Thursday - parking & smoking issues are on agenda.
  • Need someone to replace Hoy for SGA rep for one semester (SGA meets at 9:15 Mon. nights).
  • Need more nominees to serve on committees – there are 66 rotating seats, 19 are open, 12 open to untenured faculty, 7 seats tenured. Currently we have 58 serving, there are 162 full time faculty. Senate webpage has committee meeting times that are set. If anyone notices discrepancy, let Thorne know. This is a good time to mentor junior colleagues; nominate new faculty for positions.

VI.

New Business

  • Assembly usually meets in the last week of school.
  • We are all requested to participate in inauguration.
  • Committee consolidation ideas: Are there too many committees across campus? Joe M. would welcome ideas (email) to discuss whether some committees are redundant. Teri: we did consolidate a few years ago and as many groups that could be consolidated were. Committees were opened as much as possible for junior faculty. We should be wary of consolidating or reducing members on the Tenure and Sabbatical committees.

VII.

Meeting adjourned: 4:25 (Hoy/Brown).
