Bob Timko called the meeting to order: 4:00 II. Announcements: President approved all motions of March 18th senate meeting. III. Approval of University Senate minutes of March 18, 2010 Approved (Evans/Davis) IV. Treasurer’s report (Gregorich): no report V. Committee / Other Reports A. Executive Committee – no report B. Academic Planning (Wetzel) –Sociology & Anthropology - discussions in progress… C. Academic Affairs (Bosworth) 1. COURSE DELETION: HST 3304 (Civil War and Reconstruction) [returned by Senate] There is no one here to teach this class. Approved 2 Opposed AAC had been doing lots of distance ed approvals. Hybrid courses: use distance ed form (if class meets every day it’s supposed to meet, it is not hybrid). D. Administrative Affairs/Elections (Verno): Run off election and final voting up – VOTE! E. Student Affairs/Admissions (Purk): Proposals for new dorms were looked at. Keystone Cares is coming up. There will be news coverage. Good way to market Mansfield and get students involved. Q: is it true that student groups that don’t participate will not get funding? JP: yes, but Jan cannot speak for SGA Student Rep will double check with ByLaws, but student involvement in community service is a basic requirement. Q: is there a definition of Community Service? JP: refer to Aaron Hack, he will help to define Q: is there an SGA scholarship? Prothero: CCSI committee approved a scholarship. JP: good person to speak with is Jim Harrington. There still is no faculty rep at SGA meeting, we need someone who is willing to serve. It has been open for awhile. Meeting is at 9:30 PM on Wednesday s. Timko: Exec is meeting next week and will discuss this. F. Information Technology(DW): Connie sent link we can share with students for training on new LMS. Web link is on home page. All classes are now loaded for us to see. Student training is now available. G. Library Advisory – no report H. First Year Experience – no report I. Provost (Keller): · University has been upgrading phone system. Moving whole campus to VOIP, a reliable, up to date system. · Allen Hall on schedule. · Grant Science is next. Progress being made. · Applications are still above last year. Confirmations are further down from last year (down 7-8%). Helpful for faculty to contact potential students to encourage students to come here. Significant numbers of current students are unable to pay their bills. Billing will work with students in any way we can to help them pay. This will probably affect what students will be able to return next year. J. Other: next meeting of full senate is April 17th, with NEW officers.
