2018 Alumni Directory Project

2018 Alumni Directory Project

Mansfield University Launches an Alumni Directory Project

Mansfield University strives to keep their alumni connected to the school and to each other. In an effort to do this, the Mansfield University Alumni Relations Office and the Alumni Association has partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to produce a new alumni directory. Beginning in January 2018, PCI will begin contacting MU alumni via mail, phone, and/or e-mail to verify the accuracy of their alumni-related information.

PCI is s trusted partner of Mansfield University. Mansfield encourages all alumni to respond to PCIs communications and participate in the alumni directory project.

Q: I received an e-mail/postcard/phone call from a company called PCI. They asked to verify my personal information and said they were working on a directory project for Mansfield University. Is this a legitimate project or a scam?

A: Mansfield University has partnered with Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI) to produce a new alumni directory.

Q: Who is PCI?

A: PCI is a family-owned company that traces its origins back to the nation’s first alumni directory publisher, the Rockwell F. Clancy Company, established in 1921. PCI is located in Dallas, Texas. PCI’s products help colleges and universities update alumni information for the purpose of encouraging alumni engagement. PCI publishes directories for alumni and development offices of universities, colleges, professional schools, independent schools, alumni associations, fraternities, and sororities. Over the years, three generations of Clancy’s have remained true to a single goal – not to be the biggest, but to be the best.

Q: How do I know that my information will only be used for directory purposes?

A: Mansfield University has a contractual agreement with PCI that states:

  1. To ensure the confidentiality of Client’s alumni data, PCI will honor requests from alumni to be excluded from the Project, provided such requests are received by Company before the composition phase of the Project has commenced.

  2. PCI will distribute a Book to only those alumni who have placed an order.

  3. PCI will not make the database available to any third parties, except to Company’s third party providers for the Project (e.g., research services, printer, etc.) with which Company has signed confidentiality agreements, or except as required under any law, governmental rule or regulation or court order.

  4. PCI will only provide to its consumer marketing partner(s) providing fulfillment services, the names and contact information of those alumni who have expressed interest in other products or services.

Q: Who are some of PCI’s clients?

A: PCI partners with top universities, including University of Georgia, Harvard Law School, Rice University, and Texas A&M.

Q: When did Mansfield University last publish an alumni directory?

A: Mansfield University last published an alumni directory in 2007.

Q: Why does Mansfield need to update their alumni directory?

A: Engaging in an alumni directory project every 5-7 years is the industry standard. In addition, an alumni directory is a great resource that allows alumni to reconnect with old friends and find new networking contacts. Accurate and up-to-date alumni information is essential for a University to successfully connect with their alumni. Completing an alumni directory project also helps the institution’s alumni database to remain current. Alumni data can also serve as a tool to assist an institution in establishing benchmarks for a variety of tracking and reporting channels, grant applications, and national evaluations.

Q: Does Mansfield University have to pay PCI for their services and/or to produce the alumni directory?

A: No; Mansfield University will not incur any costs in association with the alumni directory project.

Q: I would like to verify and update my alumni-related information. How may I do this?

A: If you received a postcard or an email with a toll-free telephone number listed, you may call this number between 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, to speak with the dedicated PCI representative for Mansfield University. The representative will verify the information that Mansfield has on file for you and PCI will identify any updates that may be needed. If you are unable to locate your assigned phone number, you may call 800-359-3552 to be connected with a representative.
