Roles & Responsibilities

Candidate Check-In Team
(4 volunteers)

Put stage cards in alphabetical order (Friday), check the candidates in, and give students their Stage Card, direct grads to the line-up area. 


Candidate Line-Up Team
(6 volunteers)

Line up candidates in the proper order, ensure each grad has a stage card.For spring, several volunteers need to be on the track from the gate to the seating area to keep the line moving.


Candidate Robing Team
(10 volunteers)

This team is responsible for setting up the robing rooms on Friday with signage, extra caps, gowns &tassels, set up tables with safety pins, bobby pins, &pencils.On Saturday, volunteers will assist candidates with their gowns, pinning hoods, fixing caps &tassels and making sure our grads look great!After the ceremony, volunteers will break down the rooms and box up all supplies.  Facilities crew will transport the boxes back to North Hall on Monday.


Stage & Floor Team
(2 volunteers)

One volunteer is stationed at each end of the stage.The first volunteer stands near the herald and keeping a controlled pace, guides the candidates to the herald to have their name called.

The second volunteer ensures grads stop on stage to get their photo taken with the president then pick up their coin from the SGA President. This volunteer sees that student is headed in the right direction back to their seat.

Photographer Assistant
(1 volunteer)

This volunteer assists the photographer so he/she doesn't have to set his camera down to help each student look presentable for their formal portrait.You'll assist with diploma placement, fixing caps and gowns, tassel, etc. Formal photos are taken before the ceremony.

Honor Cords & Veteran Cords
(2 volunteers)

Hand out honor cords and veteran cords at rehearsal on Friday and in the robing room Saturday.


Physically Challenged Seating
(4 volunteers)

This team is responsible for assisting our guests with mobility issues inside the venue.This may include waiting with the guest while their family parks, helping them to a seat in the handicap section, and assisting guests in wheelchairs and those using a cane or walker.


Ticket Scanner Team
(4 volunteers)

This team is responsible for scanning guest tickets as they enter the gym.Scanners will be provided. ONLY FOR AN INDOOR CEREMONY.


Rehearsal Set Up Team
Friday (all volunteers)

All volunteers to assist with setting up the venue for the ceremony.This includes putting programs on faculty and candidate's chairs, name tags on platform party chairs &VIP guest seating, bottles of water under chairs, designation signs hung on chairs for handicap seating, Marshal seating, Faculty seating &graduate seating, setting up flowers, coin table, diploma table, and putting reserved signs on bleacher seating.
