Description: The Tioga County STAR program is looking for tutors at their center in Wellsboro
(located behind Truck-Lite in Wellsboro) to help tutor elementary/middle/ and high school students
with their homework after school. The hours would be approximately 4-6pm. While this is volunteer
work, tutors are reimbursed for mileage and are able to get reimbursed for their clearances
(Criminal History and Child Abuse).

Purpose: To render services to SSMH and its patients through ways approved or proposed by the administration of the hospital.
Description: We organize many activities, including the Candlelight Dinner in November, the Strawberry Shortcake Booth in June, a Fashion Show in the Spring, and a Bread Pudding booth in December. If you can stuff an envelope, hull a strawberry, or bake a bread pudding, or help in other ways-we need YOU! You will make great friends, have fun and support your local hospital at the same time.

Activities in which volunteers will be working with residents:
- Assist with daily scheduling activities: coffee break, exercise class, bingo, current events, rhythm band, etc.
- Transport residents to and from scheduled activities
- Transport residents to and from social activities within the community
- Conduct craft classes with residents
- Conduct game nights and evening programs
- "Adopt a Resident" program (1:1 visits)
- Show movies and/or slideshows
- Conduct discussion groups
- Pass and read mail to residents
- Assist residents with writing letters to families and friends
- Hold game sessions (checkers, card games, etc.)
- Conduct spiritual activities, church, Bible Study, etc.
- Assist with wheelchair square dancing and outdoor games
- Nail manicures
- Take residents for a walk outdoors
- Transporting therapy residents and back to rooms in a wheelchair
Activities in which volunteers will be working indirectly with residents:
- Pen Pals
- Helping to decorate the facility
- Passing ice water
- Making beds
- Answering phones 4-8 evenings
- Folding clothes in laundry
Activities with no resident involvement:
- Provide holiday and seasonal decorations for residents' doors and throughout the facility
- Make lab robes, bibs, catheter covers, and wheelchair accessory bags
- Help with addressing and mailing bulk mail
- Print monthly calendar and birthday posters for lobby
- Typing, filing, stuffing envelopes, etc.
- Assist with fundraising events
Special Activities:
- Provide music during lunch and supper hours
- Provide evening entertainment such as music, singing, slide shows, etc.

Purpose: Our non-profit Organization is organized exclusively for charitable purposes for the exclusive benefit of members of our Armed Forces and War Veterans. Our primary mission is to provide "care packages" to members of the Armed Forces deployed at war and War Veterans residing in Veterans Administration Hospitals. Such "care packages" will be shipped as frequently as donations and fundraising efforts will permit.
