The History Club's purpose is to facilitate students' interest in history and to foster professional growth. It is open to all Mansfield University students. The Club meets frequently during each semester and plans activities that enhance history education on campus. They also explore local Pennsylvania history and its diverse cultures through day and weekend field trips. The organization's President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer are elected by History Club membership. Meetings are held in 215 Pinecrest Manor. Contact an advisor for dates and times. The History Club is a great way to meet new people who are interested in history.

Phi Alpha Theta is the National History Honor Society. The organization was formed in 1921 and the Alpha-Iota Beta Chapter was established at Mansfield University in April of 1999. To be eligible, the History major must have completed twelve semester hours of History courses, achieved an overall QPA (Quality Point Average) of 3.0, and attained a QPA of 3.25 in all history courses. Invitations are mailed to eligible students in both the fall and spring semesters. Induction ceremonies are held every semester. Members are encouraged to participate in regional meetings.

The Honor Society awards scholarships to the M.U. Bookstore every fall and spring semester. Students must meet the following criteria: 1) be a member of the Alpha-Iota Beta Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, 2) be a senior (90+ credits) at M.U., 3) possess a 3.5 or higher QPA in History, and 4) be enrolled in at least one history course during the semester in which the award is received. Awards recipients are selected by History faculty members who are members of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.
