Visit Belize!
The Belize summer program is a 6-credit course about the Politics and Culture of Belize. This faculty-led program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding Belize, with a focus on globalization, eco-tourism and development, social diversity, and the political process. Prior to departure, students complete readings and assignments (including 3 intensive days on the Mansfield campus). During the two weeks spent in Belize, you will conduct interview research with government officials, academics, political activists, business leaders, and locals. Our itinerary also includes Mayan sites, caving, canoeing, and snorkeling-fun stuff, but with a purpose! As an English-speaking country, no special language skills are necessary. Upon return, you complete a research project in which you incorporate your observations and interviews. Offered in the summer. Cost is $2500, plus 6-credits tuition/fees. This covers transportation (including airfare), lodging, and group activities for more than two weeks. Personal costs, such as food, are under $500.
