The Annual Fall Choral Collage will be presented on Sunday, October 15 at 2:30 pm in Steadman Theatre. The Choral Collage always presents each of the campus choral ensembles in their first major performance of the season. Peggy Dettwiler, Director of Choral Activities, promises that all of the choirs: Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Mansfieldians, Chamber Singers, Festival Chorus, and Concert Choir will be in top form! Almost 150 singers will be involved. Their program will feature the usual wide variety of choral repertoire with works from the Baroque through the 21st century including Gospel, Jazz, and Spiritual selections. Some highlights include the Women’s Chorus performance of the poem “High Flight” by John Magee, a pilot in World War II. The Men’s Chorus will delight the audience with a hilarious drinking song, “Old King Cole,” and the Festival Chorus will perform an Iraqi love song in Arabic, the native language. The chorus will also introduce a movement from the spring major work, “Annelies” by James Whitbourn, which tells the story of Anne Frank. A featured selection of the Concert Choir will be the finale from “Candide” in celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein. Their program also includes “Flanders Fields,” “Light of the Clear Blue Morning” and a spiritual, “Great Day.” Sheryl Monkelien with lead the vocal jazz ensemble, Mansfieldians, in two selections including “Chili con carne.” Don’t miss this free public concert with music that will surely appeal to a broad audience!
