Biography

Adam H. Veil received a B.A. and M.A. from the Pennsylvania State University, and is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Indiana University (Bloomington). Mr. Veil's primary area of research is American visual culture of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. He is also proficient in the arts of California and the American West, and the history of collecting.

Before joining the Art Department, Adam taught at Penn State University (University Park), the Herron School of Art & Design (IUPUI) and Michigan State University. At Mansfield, he teaches online courses in Renaissance Art, American Art, Modern Art, Contemporary Art, African & Oceanic Art, History of Graphic Design, and the History of Architecture, in addition to supervising Art History "capstone" projects.

Concurrent with his teaching and research activities, Adam has held executive-level positions in prominent galleries and auction houses, consulted for art fairs and art advisory firms, and lectured and published on topics ranging from Mexican landscape painting and the art of American gift books to fashion history and art market economics.
