Dr. Sidell joined the Mansfield University faculty in 1998 and taught in the Social Work Program before moving into administration. She was granted her MSW degree from Case Western Reserve University, a CSWE-accredited program. She completed her Ph.D. in Social Work at the Ohio State University and had demonstrated leadership and administrative ability at the Program, University and professional levels. Prior to assuming leadership of the BSW Program in 1998, she worked in health and mental health settings for 18 years. She has been active in the Council on Social Work Education, the National Association of Social Workers and the Association of Social Work Boards. She has served as a CSWE site visitor since 2004, has presented professionally in several venues, has written two books and multiple journal articles, and is a consultant assisting with the development of licensing examination items. Since 2015, she has served as an Interim Dean. In 2016, that appointment became permanent. She is currently the Dean of Natural and Social Sciences.
Dr. Sidell's education is in Social Work. She holds a BA in Social Work from Kent State University, a master's degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, and a Ph.D. in Socia Work from the Ohio State University, Columbus.
