Phillip Swank serves the Mansfield University community as Director of Grants & Sponsored Programs. He ensures the idenitification, dissemination, and interpretation of funding opportunities; the preparation and submission of competitive grant proposals; and the effective coordination and compliance of externally-funded programs, research initiatives and projects. Swank will work toward increasing MU’s external funding sources, providing leadership in the pursuit of grants and oversight of sponsored programs in alignment with Mansfield’s mission and strategic plan.
Having extensive professional background in all aspects of granstmanship, Swank has served the external funding needs of higher education, county government, and non-profit organizations. Most recent leadership roles have included government relations and grants management for Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa, and executive management for Endless Mountains Heritage Region, Inc. His experience features the conceptualization, funding and completion of projects in education, community & economic development, heritage development, multimodal transportation, and infrastructure. Funding history includes federal agencies, state government, regional foundations, and corporate/private sources.
