Welcome!
Mission
The Dr. Margaret Launius Women’s Center builds and creates a community of authentic and engaged allies and leaders to pursue gender equity and social justice, enhancing the campus climate through education, advocacy, support and leadership development. We provide resources, advocacy, and referral to ALL students, to promote healthy and safe relationships.
Vision
The Women’s Center serves as a resource and catalyst using evidence-based practices for transformative learning on both the individual and institutional level around issues of gender, equity, and interpersonal violence.
Sexual Health Awareness
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines sexual health as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence.
The Women’s Center provides free condoms, internal condoms, dental dams, and feminine hygiene items. Each residence hall has a designated area for students to pick-up these items whenever they need them. The restrooms in Alumni Hall, Room 301 have baskets that contain condoms and/or feminine hygiene products. Students can also stop by the Women’s Center in Alumni Hall, room 301 for assistance.

Events
During the month of March 2022 we honor and celebrate the courageous and inspiring women who have shaped history and continue to create a brighter future. The theme for International Women’s Day this year is #BreakTheBias and encourages everyone to imagine a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination, and that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. We hope that event schedule below and attached for March inspires the campus community to band together and #BreakTheBias. MU faculty, please feel free to promote these events within your classroom teaching environment to encourage student attendance.
