ABOUT THE AWARD
The PASSHE Study Abroad Award is a need-based award, which shall provide financial support to select PASSHE students for international educational opportunities (study abroad, exchange, faculty-led programs, and independently-arranged programs). In helping to defray the additional costs associated with international educational experiences (passport, visas, travel), the PASSHE Study Abroad Award strives to assist a wide range of PASSHE students from diverse academic backgrounds to take advantage of the variety of academic programs offered throughout the world. The PASSHE International Education Council plans to make awards ranging from $500 to $2,000, depending on duration, location, and type of program
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria at their home institution by time of study abroad departure:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a PASSHE university
- Must be a Pell Grant and/or PHEAA recipient
- Must be a legal permanent resident of Pennsylvania
- Must participate in a study abroad program approved for PASSHE university credit
- Must have completed a minimum of 24 undergraduate credits (including validated transfer credits)
- Must be in good academic and judicial standing
- Must demonstrate self-reliance, maturity, and flexibility to deal with the challenges and opportunities associated with study abroad programs
- Preference will be given to:

- · Students who are enrolled in programs offering three weeks or more residence abroad

Mansfield University Foundation Study Abroad Scholarships
Mansfield University has a small scholarship fund to help students cover some of the additional costs associated with study abroad. Only matriculated Mansfield University students are eligible for these scholarships. Awards are based on need and merit and amounts awarded usually range between $250 and $1000.
To apply for a MU Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship, after you have been accepted into a study abroad program:
- Pick up an application in the Financial Aid Office (224 South Hall) or the Office of Study Abroad.
- Fill out the application and turn it in to the Office of Study Abroad.
- Request that the Coordinator attach a letter stating that you have been accepted in the study abroad program which you identified.
- Verify that the application and letter have been received by the Scholarship Committee. You will be notified once the scholarship decisions are made.
Efforts will be made to disburse scholarship awards prior to your departure. However, you should note that scholarship funds are first applied to any outstanding balances which you have in the Revenue Office.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards up to $5,000 for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
